Finding Your Voice in Divided Times

I’m working on the design of We Could Almost Touch It. There are so many great essays. I am thankful for the many writers and artists who are participating.

I am also “working” on my writing lately, which has begun to mean finding my way when I don’t recognize the political landscape. It means fighting an inner critic that focuses too much on the outcome and forgets the journey; one that sneakily says, “Will these words change unchangeable minds?” as though that is the reason for writing.

This morning, I reread Jenny Forrester’s essay, and I am reminded of the power of immersing myself in beautiful, complicated thoughts and connecting to the natural world. Her work inspires me.

Please enjoy a second reading of her essay.

If you love writing, Jenny is wonderful teacher. She is offering a workshop this fall: Brilliant: The Art of Literary Radiance 6-Week Zoom Workshop
