Being a Woman
by Leticia Plate
Being a woman has been like sitting on a volcano, something is always moving or changing… as soon as puberty hit, my body became unescapable, and I couldn’t be purely abstract, as a child – all imagination and play. The monthly hormone dance, the body suddenly public: observed, judged, desired, measured- It became political: controlled, regulated, my choices fought over by politicians and courts. Now, older and wiser, I am grateful for it, and afford to be more at peace. I want the next generation to feel more connected and in power. VOTE!
