Three months ago, when I was pulling together all the information for the Kickstarter, this wasn’t the outcome I imagined. Our Kickstarter campaign closed this week without hitting our target.

But obstacles aren’t endings; they are just important parts of our journey. As lovers of stories, we know that these obstacles make life interesting, teach us important lessons, and make the accomplishment at the end even sweeter!

First of all, I want to thank everyone.

I am filled with gratitude to all who pledged, helped spread the word, and were enthusiastic about featuring their work in our anthology through Kickstarter. So many people came together to support the effort.

While we didn’t hit our fundraising goal, it was a learning experience.

We found that most of our community members excel in supporting us through time and talent rather than finances. Throughout the campaign, individuals volunteered for editing, graphic design, and illustration tasks. Some writers even declined compensation. These contributions are significant and will make the publication a reality, but these valuable contributions just don’t show up on the Kickstarter bottom line.

We are moving forward.

Although our Kickstarter campaign closed out without meeting our goal and we are not receiving funding through that campaign, we are moving forward.

• This is a project that I am passionate about. Tangled Locks Journal has always been a labor of love and I will ensure the essential expenses are funded.
• We are accepting the generous offers from talented creatives. I am reworking the project timelines so that I can accept the offers of in-kind support while respecting the availability of our volunteer creators.
• Kickstarter operates on an all-or-nothing basis. Supporters who pledged through Kickstarter will not be charged. For those of you who pledged your support through Kickstarter, please consider making a donation through our website.
