November 2021 MoonBite: Sunlight Opened

Sunlight Opened

Sunlight Opened and spread across the cracks of my palms. I take in the sight of melting dawn. Days I can taste bubble in the back of my throat. Hoots and hollers of ancestors ring through my ears. I recognize the hymn. A vague wisp of a memory buzzes past my ear; though the long-standing church bells have seized chiming. I find gold-plated daydreams in the ancient ruins. My grandmother’s laugh follows me in the wind; a baby blue ribbon I dreamt of, holds my curls while chasing after it. Teetering on the cusp of all my ages.
